I love a well packaged product, but I also love a well scented product too. It’s like a having a product that does its job while doubling as a perfume. I went through my stash and narrowed down five items, which consists a mix of skincare and makeup, that smell the best in my books.
1. Burt’s Bees Vanilla Bean Moisturizing Lip Balm*
What’s better than a super moisturizing lip balm? A lip balm that gives you moisture and smells amazing. I haven’t really gotten into Burt’s Bees before, mainly because when I’m at the drugstore I want to buy really cheap lip balm ($0.99-$2 range) and or I end up buying the more luxury balms like Dior. The Burt’s Bees Vanilla Bean Moisturizing Lip Balm is 100% natural and contains nourishing ingredients of shea butter and Vitamin E.
The Vanilla Bean Frappuccino from Starbucks is one of my favourite flavours and the lip balm’s scent reminds me of how delicious and sweet it is. I cannot detect any artificial or chemical scents. I can’t say that it is the most moisturizing, long lasting lip balm I own; but I find the scent comforting and I don’t mind reapplying it every two hours when I feel my lips drying out.
2. Murad Hydrating Toner
I recently purchased the Murad Hydrating Toner ($27 CAD) during Sephora’s VIB sale. I was looking for a toner in the $20-something range and I liked how this was a spray toner so I don’t have to waste cotton pads. The toner is a light mist that is paraben, sulfate, and phthalate free. my skin feels refreshed and soft after spritzing it. It contains lecithin (to help bind water,) as well as Vitaminc C and E (antioxidant protection.)
I wish I could have a travel size of this so I can spray this on my face all day long because it smells so dang good. It’s the best combination of fruity and fresh; the toner contains peach extact, grape seed, and cucumber extracts which I’m certain makes up this delicious scent. I need something like this as a perfume! This is my first Murad product so I’m looking forward to trying more in the future.
3. L’Occitane Delightful Rose Hand cream
I must carry a hand cream at all times cause my hands dry out faster than a grape sitting in the sun.At any given time, I will have dry cuticles, dry patches between my thumb and index finger, or peeling skin around my nails. From time to time, L’Occitane has promotions on Facebook where you sign up and get an email to receive sample sized hands creams in store. I got a set of two hand creams during their last promotion and have been carrying the cream with the scent Delightful Rose ever since.
The fragrance is overpowering when first applied, so it might not be the best for sensitive nose. I enjoy that rose scent and do not mind it one bit. The scent is quite long lasting and I can still smell its lingering after washing my hands. It’s especially useful when I’m on the bus on a stuffy day and I can whip out my hand cream and proceed to smell my hands for the whole bus ride.
4. Kiko Cosmetics Sun Bronzing Blush in Marine Coral
I bought this blush when I was in London 2 years ago and it is possibly one of the best blushes I have bought to date. It is the only blush I can tell that I used the most, since it used to be domed shape and now it’s almost flat (but I’m still far from hitting pan.)
Baked beauty products work well with my skin and this is no exception. The blush is finely milled, applies smoothly, and packs pigment. The colours here gives a light, pink-coral flush to my face, and it can be builded up to a rosy pink. The highlighter shade is a winner on its own and I use that on my brow bone and cheek bone as well as blending it within my blush.
And since we are on smells, the Sun Bronzing Blush has a sweet (and addictive) vanilla scent that hasn’t faded since day 1 I got it this product. Yup, you get my stamp of approval. I would repurchase this over and over again, but sadly, I don’t think this collection is sold anymore at Kiko Cosmetics.
5. Burberry Natural Bronzer in Warm Glow No.o1
Another England purchase, albeit it was an impulse buy. I was at Harrods with my friends and I was sucked into the beauty section for the longest time, especially at the Burberry counter. I ended up getting the Burberry Lip Mist in Pink Heather and this Natural Bronzer in Warm Glow. This bronzer is buttery soft and the quality is superb; I expect no less from Burberry! Warm Glow gives a natural sun kissed glow to the cheeks and lasts for the whole day. This blends in your skin rather than just sitting on top like another layer. Plus the packaging itself is worth ogling over too.
I’m not exactly certain what the scent is of the powder, but I’m feeling roses again with some sweetness to it. I’m pretty sure I’m on a high now because I’ve been sniffing this back and forth so I can describe the scent, but it’s not really my strong point. Please trust me on this and sniff it out!
It seems like I’m attracted to roses, vanilla, and fruity scents in beauty products the most. Roses is the most unexpected because I used to detest anything floral, but I’m growin’ up! What are your favourite scented beauty products?
