Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick, we meet again. It’s been a while since I’ve blogged my last Be Legendary Lipstick , and I’m feeling the nostalgia. Smashbox was one of my first high end brands; I remember flipping pages of the magazine and saw the Photo Op Under Eye Brightener and wanted to try it out on my puffy and dark undereyes. That product turned out ok for me, but I did like their lipsticks better. I believe the shade I have, Mauve Matte, is part of the Smashbox + Donald Robertson : Be Legendary Matte Lipstick collection on Sephora, but the box packaging I got is doesn’t have the same design; maybe because it was a PR sample? (By the way, I actually don’t know who Donald Robertson is, but after a quick google search; he does some pretty interesting and funky prints, stuff I’d put on my wall.)
The Be Legendary lipstick in Mauve Matte is in the same, sleek black case as the other lipsticks in the Be Legendary Line. These lippies retail at $23, which is lower than most lipsticks at Sephora, and at this cost, I think the packaging is a lot better than other expensive lipsticks I’ve seen. The rectangular shape is quite appealing and it feels sturdy in my hands.
Mauve matte is essentially a cool toned pink and is very pigmented in one swatch. These lipsticks contain shea butter, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E to moisturize and protect the lips. Cool toned colours and matte colours don’t generally look good on me, but I quite like how it turned out into a MLBB colour. The Be Legendary Lipstick is indeed creamy when applied and lasts for a good few hours. The only downside I find is how it clings onto my dry patches, something that’s very hard to avoid for me when using a matte lipstick. You may be able to see some uneveness in the picture of me wearing Mauve Matte.
Because the matte lipstick doesn’t apply as lovely on me as I wish (with all that desert-like lips I have,) I have to wear it with a lip balm most of the time. And hopefully if I rescue my lips with more water and stuff I can wear it more often! If you’re a fan of matte lipsticks and don’t constantly suffer from dry lips, the Smashbox Be Legendary matte lipsticks is a green light! With the price point of $23, it’s pretty fair comparing to what you can find in Sephora now.
