As much as I love using $30+ oils to moisturize my skin, it’s not going to work out for me in the long run financially. Luckily, drugstore brands are coming out with some really good stuff nowadays, and one of them is the Jergens Shea Beauty Oil, which is what I use every time I get out of the shower now.
I already have the Jergens Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Moisturizer at home, so I was happy to receive the Shea Beauty Oil to review, as it finished my post-shower routine leaves my body with a nice and fragrant sheen. Shea butter is one of my favourite moisturizing ingredients out there; my body feels more moisturized when I use something with shea in it; and the product contains exactly what I like.
Jergens Shea Beauty oil contains a blend of Shea Butter and Argan Oil and I LOVE how hydrating my skin looks and feels after using it. I’ve also been using it after I wax my legs because it soothes the burn and gets rid of any wax residue. The packaging incorporates a pump, which is very clean and easy to use as I’ll never spill out too much. It is claimed to leave the skin 6x more radiant, which is something I am unsure of; how does one calculate that?? For sure I see a glow on my body after using it though.
For in-shower exfoliation, I switch around between the Jealous Body Scrub and The Body Shop Olive Oil Scrub. After getting out of the shower, I use the Jergens Shea Butter with a pump of Shea Beauty Oil in it to moisturize. If I wake up in the morning and feeling a bit dry, I use the oil on its own; and definitely before wearing a T-shirt.
Full list of ingredients:
MINERAL OIL, ISOPROPYL MYRISTATE, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, CARTHAMUS TINCTORIUS (SAFFLOWER) SEED OIL, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA) BUTTER, FRAGRANCE, LIMNANTHES ALBA (MEADOWFOAM) SEED OIL, OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) OIL UNSAPONIFIABLES, ARGANIA SPINOSA KERNEL OIL, LECITHIN.
Mineral oil is the the first one named in the list of ingredients. It probably explains why the product is much more affordable than high end body oils, which generally uses natural oils. All the other important oils are further down the list. However, I haven’t ran into any problems so far and will continue to use this.
Are there any drugstore oils you are a fan of?
