Happy Friday! I want to end the week with one of my favourite lip products! I think we can all agree that YSL makes some of the classiest makeup around, and I had no regrets getting my hands on the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain Glossy Stain (I can’t even pronounce the whole name properly,) during last year’s Sephora VIB sale.
I was debating between getting the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stain or the Babydoll Kiss & Blush Lips & Cheeks, but in the end I went with the Rouge Pur Couture as it was a)slightly less expensive, b) I was drawn to this packaging a bit more (less writing on the bottle) and c) how often would I use it on the cheeks?
Rouge Pur Couture is a lip stain with a glossy texture that isn’t sticky nor waxy. It also is amazingly long lasting; I can get 4-5 hours of wear out of this. Not to mention that it smells AMAZINGLY good; it reminds me of berries and roses? These should be made into mini perfumes in that similar bottle. The applicator also gets the right amount of colour to spread on the lips, I barely have to try. The only gripe I have with this is the list of ingredients- there is alcohol, sulfate, and a bunch of other chemicals that I generally wouldn’t want to eat. Here’s the ingredient list that I got from the Sephora website:
Octyldodecanol, Aqua / Water, Trimethylsiloxyphenyl Dimethicone, Ethylcellulose, Sorbitan Stearate, Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Sucrose Cocoate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Hydroxypropyl Guar, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Silica, Benzyl Alcohol, Limonene, Calcium, Sodium Borosilicate, Polyethylene Terephthalate, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Alumina, Benzyl Benzoate, Anise Alcohol, Acrylates Copolymer, Tin Oxide, Fragrance. May Contain: Ci 77891/ Titanium Dioxide, Mica, Ci 15850/ Red 7, Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499 / Iron Oxides, Ci 17200 / Red 33, Ci 15985 / Yellow 6, Caramel, Ci 42090/ Blue 1, Ci 19140/ Yellow 5, Ci 75470/ Carmine.
I purchased the Rouge Pur Couture online without prior swatching ANY of the colours so I was kind of blindly choosing; kind of a bad move for something that costs $38 CAD. I didn’t want a sparkly finish nor a pink colour, and settled with Rouge Vintage, which looks like a wine red colour. I don’t normally lean towards dark reds, but as this is a glossy stain, the colour is semi sheer which is perfect! I previously wore this colour in an #OOTD post here!
With this lip colour, I don’t even bother wearing heavy makeup and this kind of already the attention grabber. Just some eyeliner and under eye concealer and I’m good to go! The Rouge Pur Couture has got it all- elegant packaging, a long lasting lip colour, and a formula that is easy to work with! It does come with a hefty price tag, so this was the last high end lip product I got and luckily have curbed all my beauty shopping since then!
Do you own any YSL lippies? Which one is your favourite?
PS- Hope you all like my new layout. I will try to put up a new header some time next week!
