There were the days where I straightened my hair everyday before school, but now I’m all about saving time in the mornings. That means a lot of less hair washing, unkempt bedhead, frizziness everywhere, and flat hair. Luckily, sometimes those problems can be solved with a good shampoo/conditioner, and my hair has been absorbing the goodness of the John Frieda Luxurious Volume line.
All the Luxurious Volume products are in this teal coloured packaging; super easy to spot on the shelves in the drugstore! There are quite a few products in this line, such as 7 Day Volume In-Shower Treatment or the Fine to Full Blowout Spray, which I will cover in a future blog post!
John Frieda Luxurious Volume Touchably Full Shampoo & Conditioner
Both the John Frieda Luxurious Volume shampoo and conditioner aims to transform fine, flat hair into a salon calibre hair with natural looking volume. Although my hair is anything but fine, it is flat and bogged down by the thickness of my hair. The shampoo contains “specialized volume building technology paired with cleansing agents” and I found that it lathered quite well so I needed to use less than normal.
The conditioner had a thinner consistency than I would expect, but it is stated online that it “weightlessly detangles for volume that looks and feels natural.” I left the conditioner in my hair for around 2 minutes before rinsing.
To test whether the product works, I had to blow dry my hair, as the volume boosting technology is activated during blow dry to enhance the hair’s natural volume. After blow drying, my hair was soft to touch; it almost seemed that the shampoo and conditioner transformed my coarse hair to a finer texture so I could run my fingers through my hair with no knots and kinks in between. Plus they smell so good! This is how I like the texture to be when I come out of a salon, so John Frieda hit the mark in achieving feathery soft hair!
John Frieda Luxurious Volume Refresh Dry Shampoo
Again, the Refresh Dry Shampoo is for adding volume to fine, flat hair. The Refresh Dry Shampoo has been a saviour for those icky days where I don’t bother washing my hair for 2 days. It has come to the point where even though my hair feels oily on the second day, I rather just hit the bed early and wash my hair another day. The Refresh Dry Shampoo does a supreme job in absorbing the oil and making my hair smell clean. There is no white overcast when sprayed on my hair.
I do notice that it’s easier to get volume at my bangs and sides of my hair rather than the roots. My bangs tend to fall straight in the most non flattering way when they aren’t clean, so spritzing this shampoo makes my bangs stay the way I want and adding volume. Since I have thick hair, there’s very little I can do to make it voluminous when my hair grease is weighing it down, so I’m just grateful the Refresh Dry Shampoo makes my hair clean.
Overall, I am liking the Luxurious Volume line in uplifting the haystack of hair on my head and adding a touch of softness. I do like rotating between different shampoos/conditioners since there’s so many in the market and I like collecting “scents” of the shampoos in my memory, does that make sense haha? The Refresh Dry Shampoo is definitely worth repurchasing. I’m pretty sure I can go 3 days without washing my hair. Laziness- booyeah!
