First note: ermgawd, four posts in a row on Macarons and Mischief! Second note: swooning over this lipstick! In the beginning of March, I attended an Estee Lauder event where the Spring and Summer collection was unveiled. One of the goodies I got to take away was the Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick which I’ve read PLENTY of good reviews of. In fact, this is my first Estee Lauder lipstick *pops open champagne!*

The Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick ($34 CAD) is in this gold and navy (looks black in the picture)metal tubing . The lid of the case sort of “magnetically” attaches to the bottom part, rather than other lipstick bullets where I would have to press the lid in hear a snap or twist the lid on.
Before I was wondering what the “sculpting” part meant in the name, because no way a lipstick can sculpt us with some kind of contouring magic. On the Estee Lauder site, the lipstick contains “multi-faceted pigments” that “create definition.” The lips will look “beautifully shaped, sculpted, curvaceous.” Of course, our lips aren’t boobs either so how are they curvaceous? After swiping once over the lips, I realized the lipstick is ergonomically shaped to fit the contours of your lips easily and it glided on smoothly.
I received the colour “Empowered” in my goodie bag. Empowered is a red, with a slight tinge of pink. I like how it has a bit of sheerness to it, because I wouldn’t wear an opaque red lip that often. It also has a nice sheen that makes your lips feel moisturized, and the shine isn’t overpowering.
The only thing I have to watch out for is existing dryness on my lips. Areas with flakes get outlined, but most lipsticks do that but I feel red shows it the most. You can see a bit of unevenness at the top left corner of my lip, where it is the most dry. A bit of exfoliation before wearing the lipstick will be much better. Overtime, my lips did not get dried out at all, but I did have to reapply after the two hour mark when the shine and colour started to slip a bit.
I personally rank Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine Sculpting Lipstick pretty high in the luxurious lipstick market, as it doesn’t fall short in many aspects. I used to associate Estee Lauder with a more mature generation, but their formulation is something that we all expect in a lipstick nowadays, no matter our age. Have you tried these lipsticks yet, or is there another high shine, moisturizing lipstick you love?
