Good Saturday all! How is the Sephora VIB/BI sales going? I actually restrained myself and only purchased 3 things (so far…) I was searching for another high quality lip balm at Sephora, because I had to let the Fresh lip balms go. For the longest time ever, I believed in the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. They were a huge hype in the lip balm world, and at the whopping cost of $26, that’s like paying an arm and a leg. And the lip balm fiend in me believed it was the holy grail and threw my money at several of these, and was so excited for my birthday a few years ago to redeem the Fresh minis as the birthday perk at Sephora. Fast forward to 2015 though….
I think as I age, my lips got more sensitive? In 2012, I wrote a review on the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Coral and sung songs of worship about it. The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments were diamonds in my collection. On top of Coral, I also had Honey, Passion, Rose, and of course the original Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment.
They worked for me, in the beginning, and very well too. My lips were sealed in with moisture and there was colour and brightness to my dull lips. They also had a pleasant fragrance, like sweet lemons. I did have a mishap with a previous mini Rose lip treatment, where it got too soft, broke off, and proceeded to fall onto the ground. Literally dropping money on the ground. I was sad, but acquired a few more minis during some VIB sale later.

A few months ago, I took out my original lip treatment out to wear and 2 hours later, there were white flakes of dead skin over my lips. I wiped them off and put a new layer of the treatment again, but my lips seemed to just feel drier and the balm felt waxier. Deciding that maybe the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment wasn’t for me, I decided to spend a bit more and try the Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment, which is $29, $3 more expensive than the tinted ones. As hydrating and smoothing as it claimed to be, my lips actually got itchy and swollen the moment a day after I switched over to the Advanced Lip Treatment. Back to Sephora it went.
The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments seem to work for almost everyone, but it didn’t for me. I’m on the edge about trying the Sugar Shine Lip Treatment ($22…plus there’s a VIB sale going on,) but I guess maybe there’s something in the formula that I just can’t handle? I’m not sure what to do with these minis I have, as I will no longer use these, but they are so pretty and luxurious looking! Also, although the lip balms didn’t work for me, I know the Fresh skincare line is supposedly godly, and I’m tempted to try a few sometime in the future. I have their Seaberry Moisturizing Facial Oil and no problem with it at all!
