We’ve all in that situation where we feel our face of makeup melting off, or dry patches appearing in the middle of the day. Now that spring is arrived and summer is approaching, it’s time to lock our face down. I’ve been wishy washy about purchasing a setting spray, but after borrowing my friend’s Urban Decay spray to keep my Elsa cosplay makeup stay all day, I was tempted. Luckily, the Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix arrived on my doorstep for me to try!
The Make Up For Ever Mist & Fix ($34 CAD for 125mL/4.22 fl oz) is a universal setting spray that keeps your makeup locked, while increasing hydration to the skin. It “boosts” oxygenation that gives a radiant glow to your face. The formula is said to be ideal for all skin types and also alcohol free!
I usually don’t wear heavy makeup daily, and when I had a wedding to attend (as well as bridesmaid duties to do,) I was super excited to use the Mist & Fix, as I was out from 3:30pm-1am. This is sprayed after makeup application; I held it at an arm’s length away from my face and sprayed it 3 times- a “X” motion across my face and one more blast in the middle. I get a dewy look after usage.
Throughout that duration of wearing makeup, I barely noticed anything. I was touching my T-zone area throughout the day, and there was no grease stain left on my fingers (it sometimes happens, and it’s gross. Especially when you see your oily fingerprints transferring to random surfaces.) Overall, my face felt soft. I didn’t get any dry spots either; I’m quite prone to have some foundation making my skin peel off around the sides of my nose, which is UBER dry. Some mascara (L’Oreal Miss Manga Waterproof Mascara) smudging did happen, but it was very minor.
As great as the Mist & Fix felt, I can’t attest that it will drastically change my makeup routine. It is kind of pricey for paying a bottle of heavenly water; and I wonder- if we all use setting sprays, do we need primer then?
Primer to Setting Sprays to set your makeup? What do you choose? Happy Easter all!!
