As Christian Grey told Ana Steele, “We aim to please;” Make Up For Ever’s Desire Me Cheek Set, inspired by Fifty Shades of Grey, were made to please us. If I’m a huge geek about a movie, I would move mountains to get the movie inspired anything products. (Seriously, someone make Hogwarts house colours inspired palette soon!!) However, if you read my review on the Fifty Shades of Grey book three years ago and blogged about it here, you would know I’m not rushing to see the movie…but pretty makeup value sets from Make Up For Ever?? Heck yes. Whitney Hong will see you now.
Christian Grey loves his luxuries and Make Up For Ever sets inspired by the movie certainly portrayed it through the packaging. The Desire Me Cheek Set ($56 CAD) contains a blush trio of Artist Shadow Blush, Travel Precision Blush Brush (#150,) and a velvet keepsake pouch- which is a nice finishing touch.
The blush trio ranges contains a highlighter (I-526), a rosy shimmer (I-808) and a coral (S-748.) It comes in a pan, the same as the Artist shadow I reviewed last year here. The blushes are the same size as the Artist Shadows so they can be removed from the pan. With the Desire Me Cheek Kit, there’s also a pamphlet in creating Ana’s look. As Ana doesn’t really take heed to Christian Grey’s requests (eating, using her blackberry…) I plunged into applying the blush my way, using the blush brush it came with. The brush is okay; I prefer it to be a bit denser/fluffier, but it does a good job in blending the blush right into my skin. As blush is pretty much the only product that I must apply with a brush, this is a pretty convenient size to carry around. Throw everything into the velvet pouch and go!
The colour payoff is very light, and it took a few finger swipes for me to get a swatch. The blushes are smooth and creamy and impressively lasted for the whole day. Ana’s inner goddess may kick in when she sees Christian, but mine comes out when I use this highlighter! This set is a steal, as each individual colour costs at $24 a piece, $1 for the pan, plus a brush. In the picture below the swatch, I’m wearing I-526 on the apples of my cheekbones, and swept S-748 up to my temples, and dabbed I-808 gently over.
Whether you like the books/movies or not, the Desire Me Cheek Set is a neat set for blush lovers. What are your fifty shades of thoughts?
