Happy new year all!! I was MIA for a while; it was relaxing to be offline for a while but glad I’m finally online again! So many blogs and comments to catch up on! Hope you all had a great holiday! I started off the new year losing my bus pass; so not off to a super awesome start, but hopefully everything else is a smooth sail. Though I did get to play around with the Memebox Thanksgiving Box Collection #1 For Me ($26) and there’s some new products that I’m excited to use this year.
When I first opened the package, I was surprised to see the box being orange rather than the usual pink. By the way, I have been finding these boxes extremely useful for storage; glad all these subscription boxes haven’t gone to waste!
1. Sally’s Box 4Set [Love Reciie Apple Mask + Delight Panthenol Hydrogel Mask + Delight Ceramid Hydrogel Mask + Delight Collagen Hydrogel Mask] ($13)
Upon opening the box, there was a package of four masks. The one on top, the Love Recipe is rather cute. I tried the Delight Panthenol mask so far and I found it quite moisturizing. The mask wasn’t in one sheet though; there was half a mask for the nose + forehead, and a separate sheet for the mouth area. Needles to say, I got clumsy and dropped the bottom half in the sink but used it anyway. On the Memebox information sheet, the Love Recipe Apple Mask is enriched “with abundant apple extracts for soothing and balancing out rough skin texture and delivering moisture and nutrition into the skin.” The Delight Hydrogel masks are “made from the ‘garden complex’ containing more than 10 herbal ingredients from Mother Nature and each work to deeply hydrate, firm up, and relive coarse, thirsty skin.“
2. Clio Virgin Kiss Tinted Lip #22 Electric 3.5g ($10)
I haven’t officially tried out the lipstick yet, since my lips are suffering an extreme dry spell and the only thing I’ve been wearing all winter is Vaseline (had to put away mu YSL and Bite lippies :(. ) The lipstick turns into a “glow-in-the-dark electric orange under blue LED lights.” I’m not sure if I’ll be under any blue LED lights any time soon, nor do I have any to test this bit. Electric is a coral/orange shade and although it says it’s a lip tint, the pigmentation is quite there when I swatched it on my arm.
3. Jaminkyung Gokmul Care Ultra Ampoule Toner 110mL ($46)
I’ve tried bi-phase eye makeup removers before, but definitely not in a toner. This is a “2Phase essence type toner with a blend of lightweight whole grain-infused toner and deeply nourishing camelia oil in a 6:4 golden ratio. It will deliver a rich moisture boost while controlling the moisture/oil balance for dry, sensitive skin.” I was kind of apprehensive when I tried this in case the toner leaves an oily residue on my skin, but my skin felt more supple and hydrated, and I also used a moisturizer on top of the toner and all was well. $46 is a bit hefty for a toner, though, so I probably won’t purchase something of the sort alone.

4. 803 803 Cream 50g ($34)
803 is a series of creams that are “specifically designed so that each cream targets different parts of the face. They’re all enriched with shea butter, adenosine, adipophillin, niacinamide, and borphillin which have effective skin brightening and firming functions.” I received the Sam N Cream which has a blend of purified caffeine and collagen extracts is for dry, sagging necklines. My mom has always warned me that I would look weird with an ageing neck but a more youthful face if I only care about my face; so I have started putting my own moisturizer on my neck already. The 803 cream is pretty thick and have a florally-sweet scent. I probably won’t go out purposely to find a cream for the neck..isn’t that what anti ageing moisturizer is for?
5. Tony Moly Hello Bunny Perfume Bar 9g ($11)
This is super cute to carry around! I love the adorable packaging of Tony Moly. The perfume stick is infused with a “top note of lemon citrus, a middle note of frisia and white rose, and a bottom note of sandalwood and musk.” The smell is quite pleasant and not overwhelming. I think these would make such cute presents for people, and they’re much more affordable than the perfume roller balls at Sephora.
6. Ariul Stress Relieving Purefull Cleansing Foam 75mL ($8)
Out of all types of facial cleansers, foaming is my favourite because who doesn’t like the feeling of bubbles washing the dirt away? The cleanser is described to “penetrate deep into your pores, cleansing away any makeup residues, skin impurities, blackheads, and dead skin cells piled up.” My face was squeaky clean without feeling tight after. It has a fresh lemon-y scent (is that why it’s stress relieving?)
7. Pisteo Bright & Pure C Serum 7mL ($25; 7mL x 4 each $100)
This serum looks prettttty luxe; I haven’t tested this out yet but I hope I really like it! The serum is “made up of Vitamin C concentrates” and “will replenish moisture balance, firm up fine wrinkles, and brighten overall complexion with continuous application.” I’m a stickler to my Ole Henriksen Truth Serum, so I’ll have to compare those two later.
The total value of the Memebox Thanksgiving Box Collection is $147. Overall, I think it was a nicely curated box, but I could’ve done without the neck cream and lipstick. Unfortunately, this box is sold out; I think it’s an older box since Thanksgiving was quite a while ago. I have yet to pack for my Bahamas trip, and I am considering to throw in the facial cleanser, a few masks, and the perfume stick in my makeup bag.
Do you have any new products that you’re looking forward to trying in 2015?
