This is actually my first Stila product review on the blog (where have you been all my life?!) I’ve always heard good feedback around Stila products, namely their eyeliner and their eyeshadows.The Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss will be the first lip product I’m trying from the brand!
Stila Stay All Day® Vinyl Lip Gloss ($32CAD) is an “ultra-glossy, high shine lip gloss” and it can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart or Sephora. The colour I’m trying is Terracotta Vinyl and it’s described as a “muted rosy brown” colour. When I read descriptions like that, there’s a high chance I’ll deviate because this girl does not look great with brown lips. However, when the colour was on me, the brown got kind of neutralized out and made my lips stand out loud and proud. With all glosses and hybrid lacquers and lipsticks these days…they all got some kind of special ingredient to hydrate the lips. This Vinyl Lip gloss contains an infusion of seaweed extract and coffee oil to keep the lips nourished and moisturized.
When I first applied it, I thought the formula was THICK! As you can see in the swatch above, it’s extremely pigmented and I get a lot of product with one swipe. The key is to not sweep layers over the lip since it builds up at the corners of the lips or end up on the teeth. The gloss needs to “dry” a bit. I did find the gloss a bit sticky, though it’s not super annoying and it goes away after a while. I wore this for the night from 6pm to midnight and the colour lasted the whole time, but I did lose a bit of the shine towards the two hour mark. If you drink right after putting this on, it will stick on to the cup like a magnet, but if you wait after an hour, the gloss does stay put on the lips!
Stila Stay All Day Vinyl lip gloss is a bit of a high maintenance product, but the finish is soo lovely! I’m wearing Terracotta Vinyl (in two different lighting, because going home around 5pm doesn’t give me significant time to photograph everything. 🙁 ) I think Terracotta Vinyl is more of a fall colour, don’t you think?
