Wahoo, more Korean skincare products! I got another jab into Memebox and this time it’s a skincare focused box. I always find myself out of toner and I don’t feel like plunking down dollars for essences and serums at Sephora, so this Special #9 skincare box encapsulated my needs. Memebox had recently made its first appearance on here, and for all of you that missed the post on Memebox Cacao cosmetics; to summarize, Memebox is a beauty box provider from Korea and they ship internationally. They bring a variety of Korean beauty products including makeup and skincare and their boxes focuses on individual needs. I am someone who is a sucker for colourful and cute packaging that comes with makeup products so my beauty allowance ends up there, while my skincare routine gets easily outdated and receives less attention from me. It’s good to know you can get high quality skincare products in a box for under $30! Today I am presenting Memebox Special #9 skincare box!
1. Boscians Cycle Repair Wrinkle Spot 15mL ($24)
At first I thought I read “Boscia” and was like SCOREEEE but this is a Korean product so no Boscia here. This is a spot cream for “treating fine lines and wrinkles” on the face. It contains galactomyces ferments(??? a quick google search told me that this is a natural yeast extract provides hydration, and brightening to the skin and also removing dead skin cells. Dropping knowledge!) There is also peony root extracts and adenosine. It’s recommended to use on the eye bags since it’s anti-wrinkle formula is stronger than the average eye cream. Crazy how this product values at only $24; at Sephora something like this would be $124! I think my eyes are still too premature for anti wrinkle stuff, so this is going to my mom, but I might dab a few around my eye bag area and see if that firms up at least.
2. Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence 60mL ($18)
Snails and bees, this bottle is full of. After my recent bee/wasp sting incident the last thing I want to get close to was anymore of those. Yesterday I nearly had a heart attack when a bee was following me around outside Yaohan shopping mall and it landed on my leg, and I just froze like a popsicle until it buzzed away. My boyfriend proceeded to have a good laugh at me :(. This essence contains snail secretion filtrate, bee venom, and EGF (epidermal growth factor – googled it-) to “cleanse your rough, damaged skin from external stresses and pollution.” This product also provides moisture, brighten complexion, and remove signs of aging.
Question- if I use essence, DO I NEED SERUM TOO? This box also contains a serum…keep reading below!
3. Dewytree Tea Tree Porest Powder in Toner 200mL ($26)
I had a good chuckle when I read “porest” since I’m thinking it’s a play on words for forest…no? According to my meme-card, it’s a ” highly moist facial toner enriched with green clay and tea tree leaf extracts for treating blemeshies and other impurities clogging up and enlarging your pores.” I’m a huge fan of tea tree stuff, as that’s one of my favourite lines at The Body Shop. The liquid becomes a suspension (I give myself a pat on the back when I use chemistry lingo, it was NOT my strongest subject as I was in school) when it’s left alone; I can see the powder settling on the bottom so shaking the toner is a necessity before using it. This was the first product I tried out of the box and I give it two thumbs up. It feels so moisturizing and it has a light scent. Going to put my Origins toner at the side for now….
4. Dewytree White Dew 7 Cut Extreme Serum 30mL ($41)
Another Dewytree product! This is a serum free of paraben, mineral oils, lalala all the stuff that everyone wants to avoid but it’s in most products anyway. This is described as a “super gentle facial serum” and it targets excess freckles, dark spots, uneven skintone, and sagging skin. For a long time, my parents say the area between my brows are darker than the rest of my face (I swear it’s just excess hair and they don’t believe me and say it’s a chinese sign that I have to marry later or something O_O) but I think my skin looks pretty much the same colour throughout. Perhaps I’ll just serum that area to prove them wrong. Either way, I’m quite excited to use this cause I have a few freckles that I want begone. Really like the packaging of this too!
5. Secret Key Super Plumping Jelly Cream 50mL ($77)
This is officially the most expensive skincare product I own now. It’s a “uniquely jelly textured cream rich in extracts from world’s top super foods- blueberry, orange, almond, broccoli, pumpkin, and salmon egg” and the motive of this product is to bring back your baby face and it plumps your face for a more naturally “3D look.” It looks like jello (like the Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Mask) and smells like passion fruit punch, not what I would expect fro something that has pumpkin and salmon eggs. I’m a bit skeptical on the 3D thing though, my face is definitely not 2D, nor is anyone elses I assume. I doubt my face will become contoured after months of use, but hey, I’m up for plumpkin plumping my skin any day. It comes with a spatula for a more hygienic application.
6 & 7 are sample sized products- Nasarang Rose Balancing Toner 5mL (Full size product 50mL $58)
Verikos Advanced Power Tightening Cream 4g (Full Sized product 75mL $26)
The brand, Nasarang, has a catch phrase “high concentrate of natural rose oil extracted from over 3 million Bulgarian Roses.” To make 1g of high quality rose oil, you need more than 3000g of organic roses. That sounds a bit crazy to me, seems like this toner is made of unicorn blood or something. It’s a very thick, honey like product. I haven’t tried it yet but it smells good..very good.
The tightening cream is another one of those cure anti aging and give you moisture products; since this box is filled with products of similar properties, I’m glad this is a mini sample size. It is enriched with “lotus flower water, collagen, bifida ferments, and peptide components.” I have quite a bit of moisturizers now so I might just pass this to my mom.
The Memebox Special #9 Skincare costs $29, but the value of the goods inside add up to $186, what a better deal compared to the Cacao box (which was already very generous.) I think this box is targeted for people who are more concerned with anti aging, but there’s a few pieces in here that I would use anyway. Another upside is that I never heard of these Korean brands before, so it’s good to add a few more skincare companies to my knowledge.
If you are interested to shop this box, or any Memebox, I have a promo code for $5 off! Use 4RHX0L at checkout ! 🙂
It’s only valid till end of August. (my font on my blog may be weird, that’s a zero in that code, not an ‘o’) They ship to 45 countries, see if Memebox ships to your country!
Have you jumped on the Memebox wagon?
