Glasses….I’ve been wearing that stuff since I was in Grade 2. I started with circular frames thinking I could be Harr(iet) Potter and those pictures still haunt me. My prescription used to get progressively worse every year so I often switched glasses. Now, I am a bit more selective and I shamelessly have a few backups of my current prescription. I am a bit of a fancy schmancy glasses chooser but my insurance can’t get me those $300 Dior frames. Recently, Firmoo allowed me to select a pair of glasses to review and they prove that expensive frames aren’t everything.
Firmoo is a global optical online store and that offer prescription glasses at a low rate; since they operate online, they are free from expenses that optical stores have to pay. The glasses from Firmoo are purchased directly from manufactures, so prices for glasses start from the $20 range!
Glasses are verrrry personal to me. Since I’ve been wearing them for 17 years, I realize that I need a pair of frames that looks good with makeup, looks professional yet fashionable, it can’t be too heavy, and I can wear it casually or with a dress. Also, I have never tried shopping for glasses online since I’m always concerned about the fitting; when I get my glasses in store, the glasses person (lol not sure what to call them…) always ends up readjusting the size since I find that a new pair of glasses makes me feel like I’m on a cruise ship or I will lose my glasses since they will slip off my non existent nose bridge.
I poked around for a while in the Women’s Eyelgasses section for a pair of rectangular glasses that have a bit of design to them. My decision landed on this pair of brown-orange plastic glasses ($28.34). I liked this since the rectangular lenses aren’t too big (gotta cover up those eyebags,) and I like the stripey design on the side.
These glasses also came with 1.57 index lenses, anti-radiation, and UV Coating. I have extremely terrible eyesight (-5.75 + astigmatism,) so it’s usually tricky to get a lens that is light and comfortable. Although those effects are add-ons to the product, the final cost would’ve been $59.79 for me, which is an AWESOME deal. I have spent $200-$300 on a pair of frames before….the wallet no likey.
For a better fit, I gave Firmoo the measurements of my other pair of glasses (the three numbers on the inside of your frames,) and when I got my new pair of frames, they sat comfortably on my nose with no slidiness.
When I received my glasses, I also got a nifty case with a map design, a spectacle pouch, cleaning cloth, and a tiny screwdriver. Those screwdrivers are SO essential to have around your house. Sometimes my lens pop out and now I can just whip out this screwdriver instead of going back to the store. I used to have one but I lost it; the inner engineer in me is happy to carry around tools like this around.
Besides the comfort level, the accessories that come with the package, the colour….the most important question is…how does it look?! Admittedly, I did some google searching on glasses ads to see how I should photograph my new specs.
(No jokes, when I used to go glasses shopping with my parents and the stores have posters around the walls, I thought that I would be a perfect candidate to be a glasses model so I can have a giant glasses collection.)

What do you think?? I honestly think the glasses are stylish yet they don’t damage your bank account. I am impressed and my skepticism on ordering online glasses has dropped.
Firmoo has a US site (free shipping $39 or more) and a Canadian site (free shipping on $55 or more.) Currently, Firmoo has a First Pair Free Programwhere you can get your first pair of frames for free and you only need to pay for lens.
