So I got some sort of chest/rib inflammation over last week which was pretty crappy, but I had such a good mail week, it kinda makes up for it. I got some sweet stuff on my blog today; my first Memebox, the Cacao edition has finally arrived on my doorstep! This special edition subscription box is all about pampering your skin with chocolate! As I opened the bubble wrap packaging, I could already smell cacao wafting from the box. When there is a cross between desserts and beauty, I will be first in line.
For those who haven’t heard of Memebox, they are a Korean retailer and their boxes contain 4-8 full sized products and deluxe samples. What I love about Memebox is that you don’t have to subscribe on a monthly basis and worrying about skipping a month if you don’t want to pay; you can get a box anytime you want! Unfortunately, shipping to Canada costs $6.99, but the products in the Memebox are worth it! Getting a variety of Korean skincare products is hard to come by in Vancouver, and it’s bound to be more expensive as well. Memebox is the best chance to try a variety of brands and products I never heard of. I bought the Cacao edition ($23) since I have been intrigued with cacao products after trying Tony Moly Latte Art Milk Pore Pack. Plus, I was hoping for some cutesy packaging as well, and I was not disappointed.
*foodie confession here* I don’t really like eating milk chocolate, chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, chocolate ice cream, but I am a die hard dark chocolate fan (give me a magnum bar and you’ll be my bff.) The cacao products in the memebox doesn’t have that overly sweet milky chocolate smell; I approve.
1. Pure Smile Essence Mask Chocolate Milk 23mL ($1)
I LOVE mask sheets, I have a year’s supply of My Beauty Diary mask sheets (I can’t resist buying these when I’m in Asia) and it’s refreshing to change up the brands of my mask sheets once in a while. I’ve tried My Beauty Diary Chocolate truffle masks so I’m expecting this one to work similar or even better.
2. Etude House Milk Talk 200mL ($7)
This bottle sort of reminds me of a baby’s bottle, but it probably tastes better than milk (I ABSOLUTELY HATE MILK!) This product can be used as a body wash or a bath milk; so I can now feel like I’m bathing in chocolate. The texture is like gel and becomes a foamy texture once I lather it. Etude House is one of the few Korean brands I’ve tried and I haven’t had a bad experience with it so far. I’ve been to the stores in Hong Kong and I have to scramble to get anything I want.
3. WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask 100g ($38)
I’m sure if I put this in the middle of my room, ants will eventually find their way in because this smells like chocolate, looks like chocolate, and has a texture like chocolate pudding. This mask is supposed to cleanse away dirt and impurities that collect inside my pores and brighten up my complexion. I tried a bit on my face and it felt warm, but it’s not a heating mask. I think if I tried to hug my bf while with the mask on would be quite the pet peeve heh..
4. Evas Cleansing Dessert Magic Cream Soap Coconut & Cacao 130g ($18)
At first I thought this was also a body wash/soap, but it’s actually a face cleanser! All my cleansers are either in a pump bottle or a tube, so this will be interesting. I find tubs to not only be a bit unhygenic, but sometimes I dip my fingers in them (aka Lush shower smoothies and scrubs) and the product becomes watery. The “cleansing dessert” has micro foam particles that reach deep into the pores.
PS- the cardboard box containing this is incredibly cute! I don’t think I have the heart to throw it away (yet.)
5. Pure Smile Choosy Lip Scrub Chocolate 25g ($11)
The last lip scrub in my possession was from Lush. Though I loved it, it was a bit rough when I used it. I instantly tried this one right after I got it and the exfoliating particles are very fine. Plus, very tasty too! The lip scrub contains sugar, cacao extracts, beeswax, shea butter, jojoba oil, macadamia oil- all the golden stuff for smooth lips.
6. Purederm Nose Pore Strips Choco Cacao 6 strips ($6)
Doesn’t Forevever 21 sells this brand? These look (and probably work) the same as Biore nose strips. Though painful and not the best thing for my skin, I do have a weird attraction for staring at the dirt from my nose stuck on the pore strip after I rip them off. No pain, no gain!
Total Value of Memebox = $81
I had no idea that cacao had so many healing powers and I’m impressed by the value of goods in the Memebox!
If you’re interested, check out Memebox to find out what box suits you! Some boxes don’t ship until August/September, but there are also some boxes that ship immediately. There are different themed boxes at Memebox, such as the Tea Cosmetics box or the Vitamin Box, so I’m sure everyone’s needs would be suited!
