With the insane heat rolling around Vancouver, beauty companies have already got their fall makeup ready to be on the market. At the London Drugs Fall Makeup Preview Event, I got a sneak peak at Lise Watier‘s new collection coming out this Fall. I was instantly attracted to the leopard pattern with the rose gold trim in their packaging.
The Fall 2014 collection contains the Quator Feline Eyeshadow Quartet, Feline Velvet Lip Lacquer, Feline Eyeliner HD, and 24 HRS Glam Eyeshadow. I’ve been playing around with these for the past couple weeks! However, I’m only going to review one item today! >:) The first product I played around with was the Velvet Lip Lacquer in Rouge. Out of the four items, I thought the product I would wear the least is the lip lacquer since it looked so intense in the tube and I feel like I have to go bold to pull it off in public. I’m a pink and coral lipstick girl and just recently bounced into orange lipsticks; pulling off a dark, vamp lip for me requires pondering on what sort of eyemakeup/blush combo I need and what I will wear to match it.
I have no problems going out in fandom clothing or in cosplay, but when it comes to makeup with such extreme colour, I feel a bit more subconcious about myself. But the formula of Vevlet Lip Lacquer is so unique in my collection that I will be daring in it. The fall collection is to “celebrate the free spirited woman” and wearing this emulates Lise Watier’s motive.
An absolutely matte lacquer that gives lips intense colour and a velvety finish. Soft-textured, creamy, comfortable and non sticky, it is available in two long-wear shades.
Lise Watier described their lip lacquer perfectly well. Such a deep red could be hard to apply, but the slight bent doe applicator made it easy to follow the contours of my lips without being messy. Upon applying, the liquid lipstick goes on creamy and dries quickly into a very matte look, oh the power of velvet lipsticks! The lacquer is rich in colour with one swatch.
With such pigmentation, you would think that this colour will transfer everywhere, but I was wrong! This was made to stay! You know how sometimes lipsticks and glosses feel like another layer on the lips, but I felt that this one fuses with the lips. It’s actually quite difficult to remove it 100%, even through talking, eating and drinking. I had a long scrub session with my loofah and cleanser in the shower to get that swatch off my arm! Even if you put it on your lips and think it’s too intense, you can blot it off and it will leave a red stain on your lips.
As with many lip products, especially ones that have a matte texture, beware of any application over dry flakes. This lip lacquer neither moisturized or dried my lips, but it’s always good to have a balm around to prevent an unwanted lip shedding. I like prepping my lips with Caudalie Lip Conditioner.
If your lipstick senses are tingling at this, it will be available from August to October 2014 at London Drugs.
How do you wear dark lipsticks, and which product of this collection do you want to see next?!
