The pen is mightier than the sword. I read that line when I was taking a “What Game of Thrones character are you?” and it applies perfectly to Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. If all my makeup went to battle, I would say this beauty would end up on the throne. I strayed from using pencil liner a long time ago, because I got those hooded eyelids that smoosh the eyeliner everywhere and it usually ends up under my eyes so I look like a human panda. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper by far outperforms any other black liquid liner I’ve ever tried. I’ve also used Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner Perversion and Stila Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner Black (comes in a close second though!)
, but Kat Von Tattoo Liner clings on like a virus. In most of my blog pictures, I am wearing this eyeliner.
Kat Von D is a tattoo artist and singer and her makeup collection is exclusive to Sephora. There used to be a section of Kat Von D products there, but I don’t see it anymore. 🙁 To find her eyeliner, Sephora has those displays of “best eyeliner” and the Tattoo Liner is in a case there.
{Though it has no effect on whether to buy the product of not, but I LOVE that old school, Roman looking font on Kat Von D liners, it’s the same font (or similar?) used in one of my all time favourite anime, Deathnote!! Anyone seen that ? L<3 I’ve also dressed up like him once upon a time ._. }
Packaging: Not much to say here, as most liquid liners have similar packaging. The lid is very secure, there is a *click* when it is closed; good to know my eyeliner won’t be drying out anytime soon! I prefer a cap that clicks on rather than screwing it on the pen.
Brush: Have you ever outlined drawings with a black felt pen when you were a kid so each drawing stands out? Kat Von D eyeliner outlines the eyes so they stand out. The tip is a brush, with very tight fibers that produces the perfect, sharp tip for a winged eye look. Even if you put pressure, all the hair stay tightly in a needle like bundle. Very easy to guide the brush along your lash line and the outer corner for the sultry, cat eye.
Colour: I love that ultra rich, Harry Potter jet black hair colour. It dries fast; I have some eyeliners that take forever to dry and I have to sort of squint for a while before my eyes can be fully usable again. I wouldn’t say the eyeliner would dry completely matte; there is some shine to it. If you have a sparkly eyeshadow base, the liner will be more glittery.
Longevity: I’ve worn this when sleeping and running, and it doesn’t budge. If you are out for the whole day, this is the one to have on your eyes.
Removal: Easy to remove with makeup remove, despite how it will mimic a tattoo liner; what I like about it is that it doesn’t flake everywhere.
{Hello unpolished fuzzy brows and random milia on my eyelid.}
I do have a small black eyeliner stash; since I bought a eyeliner favourite box from Sephora last year, I always reach for tattoo liner. Unfortunately, if you want a selection of coloured eyeliner with the same formula; it’s not happening. Trooper is the only colour in the lineup. Nevertheless, I crown this my holy grail eyeliner. I am extremely impressed with the formula and application of this product! (THOUGH, I am very curious on Benefit’s new push up eyeliner….)
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner can be purchased at Sephora online or in stores for $22 CAD or $18 USD.
Are there other holy grain eyeliners you would recommend?
