Finally got my hands on some NYX lip products! I’ve been reading reviews on NYX butter glosses for a while now and although I didn’t want to add any more products to my lippie collection, I succumbed to it anyway. #beautybloggerproblems
As a fan of Revlon Lip Butters and having a preference of lipsticks over gloss, I was curious to see if the NYX Butter Gloss would be a hybrid of a hydrating lipstick and gloss. The word “butter” in the name of a lip product is alluring, although I personally do not really eat butter unless the bread is toasted to a crisp, or it’s flavoured butter.
I tried out Eclair and Apple Streudel. Eclair is said to be a “pink” coloured gloss and Apple Streudel is a “peach” coloured gloss. They both have slightly different scents, Apple Streudel smells like sweet cupcakes (why doesn’t it smell like apples?!) and Eclair smells like frosting, but a bit more artificial.
The colour of the Eclair packaging looked more like lilac than pink. However on me, it’s a very cool pink that looks a bit washed out, depending how I apply the rest of my makeup. If I went out with no makeup and just put Eclair on my lips, I’d look very unlively. However, if I applied more blush and eyeshadow, it balances the coolness of the pink butter gloss.
Apple Streudel is described as peach colour, but it’s more on the sheer side, so my natural lip colour combined with Apple Streudel makes it look like a “my lips but better” product.
NYX Butter Glosses are what they are described – butter and glossy. I felt that it was sticky on application, but after a few minutes it felt like a creamy, smooth balm over my lips. The product does slip and slide a bit, so the wear time is around 2-3 hours for me, but my lips don’t feel chapped when the product is gone. Given the price point for $5, these are excellent for maintaining moisture and colour for the lips!
NYX products can be found in London Drugs or Target, and also on Amazon! Which one do you prefer, NYX Cosmetics Butter Lip Gloss Eclair or NYX Cosmetics Butter Lip Gloss Apple Strudel? Any other NYX products I should try?
