Just as I put my “Beauty Products for Rainy Day” post up, rainfall started happening at YVR the next day. As a commuter, having appropriate weatherproof outfit is as important as a weatherproof makeup collection. And, my new Phillip Lim for Target bag came just in time for me to put this simple, fall outfit for the rainy day together.
Whenever it rains, I definitely rely on my jackets by Orb Clothing. They make very durable and waterproof jackets that are stylish, but they also keep you dry and warm. I think I own about 4-5 jackets from Orb and 3 hoodies. The military green colour is one of my favourite fall colours, and it goes with a lot of earthy tones. I really like the green jackets at Aritzia, but I simply can’t afford paying so much for one!
The weather is so pale and grey on a rainy day, so I wore this red and black checkered shirt for contrast. I bought this one from Forever 21; they have such a great collection of plaid and checkered shirts! Plaid shirts + jeans is a clothing combination that would never die old for me. Admittedly, wearing this plaid shirt is not warm enough for me when I’m in my office, so I am actually wearing a brown sweater cardigan from H&M underneath.
Earthy green jacket, red plaid shirt…I decided to wear my brown boots with this outfit! Couple people thought I may look a bit too American in this outfit…do I?
Last but not least, the highlight of my outfit is the Phillip Lim for Target Top Handle Crossbody Bag! I thank my friend Mr.Walk N Talk for helping me get this from the states (and taking these photos!) I recently posted a picture on instagram (Follow me @wheetnee)featuring the two bags I got; the other is a giant black satchel which can be paired up with virtually any outfit.
This is the first time I am using a mustard yellow coloured bag and I love how it stands out. Before, I thought yellow is a colour that I wouldn’t fancy very much- I don’t have a lot of yellow coloured clothing or accessories; but this bag is small, cute, and striking. It doesn’t hold much- just my to go essentials (lip stick, hand sanitizer ..etc,) my phone, bus pass, and wallet. Although summer time is over and normally darker colours would be incorporated with fall outfits, the toned down mustard colour of this Phillip Lim bag can still be brought out.
Luckily it stopped raining in the late afternoon, but it was still quite chilly! I was still warm and happy with my new accessory.
