I have a huge problem with dark under eye circles and eye bags; and when I’m in a hurry or lazy, I have no time to cover them. One of my favourite products to solve this problem is bareMinerals Stroke of Light Eye Brightener.
I’ve tried various products, but some either were too sheer to too creamy(which is a magnet for mascara smudges). When bareMinerals released the Stroke of Light for brightening the eyes, I was quite excited since I love the products of that brand. There are four shades in the Stroke of Light line- Luminous 1 for fair/pink undertones, 2 for light/yellow undertones, 3 for tan/neutral undertones, and 4 for deep/golden undertones. I am currently using #2.
The eye brightener is designed to “diffuse dark shadows” and it also erases fine lines and dark circles over time. Stroke of Light comes in a long tube, with a wand attached to the lid. At the end of the wand is a small sponge pad. The sponge is quite squishy, so it applies delicately in the under eye area.
This product is between thick and watery; the consistency is very smooth and easy to blend or pat into the skin. It feels almost weightless. Stroke of Light can be applied on sheer, or be built on to provide medium coverage. I build my colour on my undereyes due to its darkness. #2 is slightly brighter than my natural skin tone, but it doesn’t look unnatural.
My usual routine is to apply 3-5 dots in the under eye area, and I also pat it down to on the area where my orbital bone is (the bone where the eyesocket is.) I also spread the eye brightener to the inner corner of my eye for an all round brightening finish. Very little small dots are needed. I have been using this product solidly for several months now, and I haven’t run out…yet!
Not only can this product be used as an eye brightener, but also as a highlighter for the center of the nose or the cupid’s bow. Because of the lack of chemicals in this product (parabens, sulfates, GMOs…) it is quite safe to use; I have never broken out when putting this product on other areas on my face.

The above picture shows me without using the Stroke of Light eye brightener. This is a comparison when I apply it on one eye.
Can you tell which under eye area is brighter (psst- the eye on your left!)
This is an image where I have applied Stroke of Light under both eyes:
I love how the product never creases and it just sits there doing its job the whole day. bareMinerals Stroke of Light isn’t a heavy duty concealer, but it’s a great hybrid of a illuminator and a dark eye circle coverer. For glasses wearers like me, eye circles are easily amplified, and a lightweight product like this is always welcome inside my room! Stroke of Light is sold where there are bareMinerals product- I’ve seen it at Sephora or some Shoppers Drug Mart. So readers of the beauty world, what’s your go to under eye concealer/brightener!?
