When I was shopping at the largest European mall in London, Westfield, my friend said that she had to go get some nail polish at KIKO MAKE UP MILANO. The nail polishes were £2.50 so both of us started to stock up. I noticed that Kiko’s cosmetics and skincare products were quite affordable. After browsing at the nail polish collection, I was looking at their Summer 2013 makeup collection. One of the products that intrigued me was the Vinyl Lips Liquid Lipstick. I don’t own any types of red in my lipstick/lip gloss collection, so I bought liquid lipstick on a whim.
This Vinyl Lips Liquid Lipstick is named “02 Rich Crimson.” The product is hypoallergenic and paraben-free as well, so if you are sensitive to some makeup products. this product could potentially work for you!
Despite the word “crimson” in it’s name- there are pink and blue undertones in it and it is more obvious in natural light compared to in store. The colour is very pigmented; you get a bold colour with two swipes on the lips.
First, I got to emphasize how white my teeth look when I wear this!
I was a bit thrown off by its bright and loud colour at first, but once paired properly with the right outfit and time, it’s a great colour to go out in This liquid lipstick has a creamy application and provides effortless shine. It doesn’t look like a product that can be mixed up as a lip gloss, since Red Crimson provides an intense colour that a red lipstick would. The finishing shine amps up the volume of the lips as well. Additionally, I cannot detect any scent or taste of the liquid lipstick.
Kiko describes this as a long lasting lipstick. Because of it’s creamy formula, the shine is easily lost through eating, drinking, or using a napkin. However, the colour remained on my lips for around 4-5 hours, even after eating my meal. Even after wiping my lips with a Kleenex twice, a bright pink-red colour still appears on the tissue. After, my lips would have a berry tint, as if I ate a popsicle. The lipstick is also hydrating, even when the creaminess has wore off, I didn’t feel like I needed to add another layer of lip balm over it.
Although this product is a bit more expensive than a drugstore product, but it is affordable and provides great quality. I don’t think I’m comfortable enough to use it casually yet since it’s still quite bright, and my glasses are already sort of red. But, if I wear some bright pink/coral/red clothing or dressing for a night out, I will immediately grab this liquid lipstick for it.
Unfortunately, you cannot buy this product in stores in Vancouver, let alone Canada. I checked on Kiko’s website and there is currently a sale going on, so right now this product is £3.40. You can purchase cosmetics from Kiko in stores (I only know of Westfield Mall in London) or online.
I’m sure many of you are confident to wear bright colours on the lips during the day or night- what kind of red do you use? Do you use liquid lipstick?
