How come this is not in Canada?! On the first day of arrival in Hong Kong, I was shopping at Watson’s, which is similar to a drug store (ie Shoppers Drug Mart/ Rexall/ London Drugs. Although located in Asia, Watsons carries some American brands such as Revlon, L’Oreal, and Maybelline- but the prices were a bit higher even though there is no tax in Hong Kong. Then these caught my eye- Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Glow. These are supposedly exclusive in Australia (?) but I guess they are starting to appear in Hong Kong now!
I’m sure most people have heard of Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm, and I use the original one myself often. But I saw that they have the Baby Lips lipbalm where it reacts with the chemistry of the lips and changes the colour. This rang a bell to me – very similar to Dior Addict Lip Glow (which I have reviewed before here) only much cheaper! This costed approximately $3CAD each! There were two colours of the Pink Lip Glow line – Baby Pink (a natural pink hue) and Pink Blast (a more darker hue). I have bought both colours, and only opened the Baby Pink colour first.

Apply as often as needed to achieve nourished lips with a pink glow unique to you.
As you can see, the Pink Glow line has a lid just covering the top, the a plastic top encasing the whole tube.

Do you see a faint hint of pink when swatched?
The Maybelline Pink Glow lip balm has a mixed berry flavour, and the scent is obvious when applied. Nothing too spectacular.
The texture and quality feels the same as the regular Maybelline Baby Lips lip balm. The moisture level isn’t really up to 8 hours as it claimed- maximum around 3.5 hours for me. The colour is clear when applied to the lips first, then I notice a peachy-pink within 10 seconds, then my lips become a natural, smooth looking pink.
All in all, despite its tacky packaging, it is a great alternative for a lipstick as it provides natural colour and decent hydration!
The Pink Lip Glow works very similar to Dior Lip Glow- except it is much more affordable so I use it for more casual events, and save the Dior Lip Glow for more special occasions. The Dior Lip Glow does smell better , and it is less slick as the Maybelline one. Honestly, the level of moisture of each balm feels the same. I feel that the Dior Lip Glow can turn my lips into a brighter pink sometimes when the temperature is higher, but i haven’t seen that effect yet with Maybelline.
