My mom is a huge fan of Bare Escentuals (Bare Minerals) products and got a 100% Natural Lipgloss in Birthday Cake from one of her purchases a long time ago. However, she didn’t like the colour and gave it to me. Bare Escentuals is known for using natural products in their makeup. There are many benefits listed on their website regarding this product:
- Superb color hydration that wears beautifully for hours
- Soft touch case with feminine curves for a comfortable grip
- Monoi D-Tahiti Oil provides up to six hours of moisturization
- Cupuacu Butter promotes smoothness and elasticity
- Barley Lipids improve the overall condition of your lips
- Vitamin E protects and heals your lips from environmental factors
- Echium Oil fights inflammation and reduce wrinkles
- Infused with 100% pure bareMinerals for an extra dose of healthy nutrients

The packaging is very simple. Clear glass tube, rubbery lid. From the tube, you can see it is a dark berry pink colour with a metallic blue undertone .

When I first opened the tube to pull the wand out, I could already here the “sticky” lip gloss sound. I could smell a vanilla fragrance to it, but not in an appealing way. When I tried the lip gloss on, the aftertaste of lip gloss lingered on my taste buds. I did find the product to be a bit sticky. Sometimes, a flyaway hair would be stuck on my lips, which is extremely annoying.

Regarding the colour of the gloss, I liked the sheer berry colour it provides. It’s not as bright as the colour in the tube. My lips look at bit pinker, a bit fuller, and it does a good job to cover up flaking lips. I also have lines on my lips and this gloss fills it up nicely and made my lips look a lot smoother. The gloss is not too glittery either, which is important since I don’t like sparkles or glitter. This colour is a great everyday colour because it isn’t extremely bright or extremely glittery, and just gives the lips a nice pop of shine. It also doesn’t make my lips look extremely huge, which is what some glosses do to me- and I hate that. For those wearing heavy eye makeup, this colour is a nice finish.
This colour is not extremely long lasting for me, as it lasts approximately 2-3 hours. When I wipe it off, my lips still feel a bit sticky, but it doesn’t feel dry, which I am glad about. Sometimes I like to add a bit of the gloss only on the centre of the lips for a subtle shine.

(wearing no other makeup)
I went on the Sephora website (Canada version) and noticed they don’t sell it anymore (at least online) so I’m not sure where you can get it, unless you ask the source, Bare Escentuals yourself.
This gloss has some ups and downs, but it’s a nice add-on to my collection for everyday looks. I’m not sure if I’m convinced to try the other lip glosses on the same line though, does anyone else have Bare Minerals lip gloss? Any recommendations for other glosses? Share your thoughts below!
