Last year, when I was still an airhead in the world of makeup and glamour, I was in Sephora and bought Korres Lip Butter in Mango. I’m such a lip balm junkie and Korres’ description of its lip butter sucked me in. I picked Mango because I thought the color was interesting, and it smelled nice, although it didn’t smell like a mango at all.It fell into my stash of my other products and it got neglected, until I found it again couple months ago and began using it again.

What it does:
“This rich butter leaves lips deeply moisturized, supple, and kissably soft. Korres Lip Butters are formulated with natural oils and extracts to soothe and condition lips. Shea butter and rice wax provide lasting hydration and softness. This shiny, juicy pop of color comes in an array of “flavors” and is ideal for dry lips.” – Sephora

Funny story- I wanted to know how much product was inside (ie: how deep it was filled) so I poked a hole with a Q-tip. -_-”

It’s a very sheer, peachy color, despite the orange intensity in the tub. The color is comparable to Smashbox’s Melondrama lipstick, which I reviewed and swatched here.

It has fantastic nourishing properties, it’s very smoothing on the lips and my lips still feel moist after 3-4 hours. It provides a nice tint, rather than an opaque colour (I think I have pigmented lips when I put lipbalm over it, so adding the mango lip butter does not drastically change my lip colour.) I would not recommend putting it right over flaky lips, because it can be seen when the butter is applied. Exfoliate before putting it on so the moisture sinks right into the lips without going through dead skin cells. Apart from its hydration, the lip butter smooths any lines on my lips and makes it look healthier and full.
I think Sephora raised their prices for this product- I’m fairly certain I bought this for $13CAD, but now it retails for $16CAD. I would not repurchase this item alone since I’m sure Revlon Lip Butters has similar colors and nourishing properties that are more affordable than Korres. (However, Korres often sell value packs which is very tempting…)
It kind of looks like I drank too much Orange Crush right?!
I think this is a great summer color- it’s brightness and orangey color is very flattering for this season! I’m wearing a bright-mint green cardigan to bring out the melon and fruity colors for this summery day!

Next on my Korres shopping list? Their lipsticks!
