One thing I love, love splurging on is lip care. I decided to turn a blind eye last year, took a plunge and bought a bunch of Fresh Sugar lip treatments from Sephora. Despite their high price, this product is fantastic and I use it so sparingly, it lasts me quite a while.
And even better news is – this year Sephora is giving a pack of 2 mini Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments as birthday presents for Beauty Insiders. Unfortunately, my birthday is in December so I’ll have to wait until then to replenish my collection.
What I love about them
1) SPF 15
2) The fresh “lemony” scent
3) The aluminum bottle
4) The color of the bottle matches the color of the balm
5) Sheerness of color
6) Quality of the lip treatment
The first product I bought was a mini pack ($22.50USD/$26 CAD) of 2 lip treatments – one is the regular Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 (0.08 oz), and the other is Sugar Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15(0.08 oz).
The brown tube is the original Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment. It is a ” hydrating treatment that nourishes, protects, and plumps the lips.” The tinted lip treatment is a ” sheer rose-tinted lip moisturizer that hydrates, repairs, and protects lips.”
I find the color goes on more effective if I “dab” the lip treatment/balm instead by smudging it around.
They are indeed soothing and glides on well. I like the smell of it and it makes my lips look moisturized. However, the balms inside the tube are very thin and if you push too hard against your lips, they would start to snap off.
I really liked the tinted color, since it can go on sheer, or if you layer the treatment, it gives your lips a nice red pout. I ended up buying the big version of this. The regular version contains 0.15 oz.
Last year, I received a 20% off coupon from Sephora, since I was a V.I.B. Then I splurged and bought the trio mini pack of the newer lip treatment colors. The trio came a 0.08 oz Honey Tinted Lip Treatment, a 0.08 oz Plum Tinted Lip Treatment, and a 0.08 oz Passion Tinted Lip Treatment.
The Passion Tinted Lip Treatment is a red-coral color that is sheer, but can be layered for more color. I like how it is not too dark.
I didn’t like the plum one as much. The color didn’t seem to last very long, and it seems to be a bit too dark for my skin tone. I have to dab it lightly so it doesn’t look like I peeled off a plum and stuck it to my lips. However, it is moisturizing and I like the scent too.
I also really liked the Honey treatment. It gives a moisturized warm-nude color. It doesn’t make my lips look colorless and pale.I like the lasting of the color for this lip treatment.
All in all, I really enjoy wearing these lip balms! Sadly, it is quite expensive ($26 CAD for one regular sized tube) so I will have to save up and wait for a next coupon/discount if I want to get more!
Also, the newest color – Fresh Sugar Coral Lip Treatment, has been recently released and I can’t wait to get my hands on it if I ever find the money to do so!
