After watching too much Gossip Girl, I decided I really need to try macaroons. Thus, I bought a box from Saint Germain Bakery at Aberdeen Centre. $11/box of 12, or $1.05/1. After eating a couple, sharing with my mom, then I realized I haven’t snapped a picture yet! It is a bit sweet, but I love eating sweets so it didn’t matter. I really liked the lemon one! Zesty and sweet, I’m a sucker for citrus-y desserts.
Pistachio (green) was really good too! Didn’t expect it since I’m not too sure how pistachio flavoured anything tastes like. Not a fan of the chocolate one, as I never really liked chocolate flavoured desserts, for some odd reason. (The chocolate one is not the in the picture since me and my friend ate them before hand. ) It was the sweetest one, but it had a weird sweet aftertaste. I gave the coffee ones to my mom and her coworker, and they both enjoyed it. I probably have to buy a single coffee flavoured one next time so I know how it tastes like!
The strawberry was very yummy as well, tastes like jam inside! Hazelnut was okay, I guess I was hoping it would taste like Kinder’s bueno chocolate or ferrero rocher, but it was off base.
Aren’t they cute though? Multi-flavoured little sweets? I love buying cute little things, even if I have to end up eating them. Unfortunately, you squeeze one a bit too hard and it gets crushed and reduced to crumbs. You can see the strawberry (pink) macaroon cracking. They’re very delicate so be gentle when nomming on one!
Oh did I mention, they’re gluten free! Always a bonus for those who can’t digest food very well (like me.)
Price: 3/5 (Expensive for one little macaroon, but one of the cheaper places)
Taste: 4/5 (A bit too sweet, but nonetheless quite yummy)
Will I Purchase again? Probably, but maybe twice a year or something.
