Two years ago, I could count the number of companies doing beauty boxes with one hand; now it’s apparent that it’s a hit in the beauty industry. Who can’t resist periodical gifts with makeup that is worth a bang for your buck?! Today I’m sharing my first experience with the subscription box, Wantable!
Wantable is a company, providing monthly subscription boxes, that launched in 2012 and instead of focusing on a makeup box or accessory box, Wantable has three box choices- makeup, accessories, and intimates. The makeup box contains 4-5 full sized, luxury brands; the accessory box contains 3-4 trendy pieces, and the intimates box comes with 4-5 products such as camis, panties, socks and more. Each box is customized to each consumer’s needs.
My box came with four full sized products of brands I never tried before! I used to have Topbox and LuxeBox subscription, but eventually I cancelled it since I felt that the brands were repetitive and not of great value- my drawer of sample sized products is near overflowing =$. I was impressed in the June Wantable box! I see myself using everything in here!
After you sign up for Wantable and choose your box, Wantable brings you to a very thorough questionnaire to customize your box- you click which skin tone suits you, what is your complexion, and then there is a list makeup categories; choose if you love them, like them, or dislike them and your box will be based on those preferences. I received 3 of categories I love and one I like, so I’m pretty happy with my selection of choices.
Vincent Longo La Riviera Sun Bronzer for Face & Body ($32)
Inspired by a trade-secret professional makeup technique, several layered shades are pressed into a unique color dispersion pattern to provide versatility for a perfect season to season color. La Riviera Sun Bronzers are both long-lasting and colour true. Each shade imparts a natural, healthy, luminous glow; Cassata lends the most glimmering radiance. Beauty Tip: Apply with a brush beneath the cheekbones, down the sides of your nose, and around your face for beautiful glow and dimension.
Vincent Longo is an unfamiliar brand to me, and a quick google search taught me that Vincent Longo was born in Australia with Italian descent. He started making makeup in his own Manhattan apartment in 1994! When I opened the palette I hoped I wasn’t getting a one tan/brown colour. Bronzer, though I love them, I don’t collect many. I have my Sephora Microsmooth Baked Foundation Face Powder in Tan to give me that *goddess skin glow* and I usually use bronzer during spring-summer time. When I popped the lid open, the multiple colours infused in this pan was love! This is a very nice, sleek compact bronzer so I think I’ll have fun carrying this little guy around. And I can use this on my body; this will be perfect to deceive people of my pasty legs.
Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cream Blush- Coral Cameo ($28)
This exquisite blush duo blends effortlessly on your cheeks with the subtle glisten of Sparklicity, now in powder form! This velvety cream to powder blush formulation acts as a magnet for sparklicity powder giving long-lasting fantastical results while leaving skin moisturized and healthy looking! Beauty Tip: For a matte look, forego the Sparklicity. If you’re dying for a little sparkle in your life, apply Sparklicity after blush.
I remember back when Sephora had a Tarina Tarantino section and I so wanted the cheek palette with four different colours and now Sephora doesn’t carry that line anymore. My eyes were already drawn to the box so when I opened it I knew that this blush is the cream of the crop of June’s Wantable box. I’ve already been carrying this around in my purse to do cheek touch ups on the go! This is actually my first actual cream blush (does Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee count?) so I was pretty psyched to use this. I definitely need to dip my toes in more cream blushes, because they’re so convenient and easy to use sans brush.
Liptini Straight UP Color Lipstick- Pink Champagne ($18)
Moisture-rich Straight Up Color lipsticks serve up pure unadulterated lip color in shades from classic to cutting-edge. Pink Champagne is peachy pink brimming with gold shimmer. Beauty Tip: This lipstick is beguiling on its own, but try layering it with stain or gloss to customize and crate your own signature lip!
I was kind of wary of shimmer in lipstick and that it would be too frosty; but that didn’t happen and the colour payoff is quite good. I find that the colour is a muted, rose pink that accentuates my lips. A minor downfall is the light, plastic tube; the packaging didn’t impress me as much after I inspected the Tarina Tarantino palette.
Liberty Republic Spellbound Nail Lacquer- Omen ($14)
Omen is a smoldering crimson lacquer for a sophisticated, yet dramatic manicure. Sultry, sexy, this high shine red will have tongues wagging and eyes green with envy.
Not sure how tongue-wagging friendly this nail polish is, will experiment on my boyfriend. Nevertheless, my nail polish collection is full of blue, green, pink, and purple hues and only 1-2 red colours. This one came to my possession in good time and hopefully I can make someone envious of my nails with this, as it suggested. However, that’s small beans, not every lipstick needs to look like its from Chanel or Dior!
After opening my box like an early Christmas present, I tried on the cream blush, bronzer, and lipstick. I need to practice some contouring!
The products in the box amazed me beyond expectations, and you’re definitely getting a smashing value. I want to give each category a box a try, so I’m deciding if I want some intimates or accessories next! Beauty boxes with mystery goodies can be seriously addicting! D:
Also, Wantable is hosting a giveaway on their website, and I’ve been submitting daily entries heh. The prize is OFRA Cosmetics Professional Eyeshadow Palette & makeup, CHI Touch screen Hair Dryer, G2 Ceramtic/Titanium Hair Styling Iron, and Ultra Orbit 3 in 1 Tourmaline Cermaic Curler.
